What Rule did I Break?

What rule did I break?

While editing some photos today, I came across this one that I took at Wickham Park in Connecticut, and realized that I broke one of the “rules” of photography. I haven’t talked about it here on iffles.com, but it’s one you’d probably learn in any Photography 101 class.

Do you know what it is? The first person to give the answer in the comments will win one free print of any one of my pictures (up to 8×10)… if they want one, of course. Otherwise they just get bragging rights.

Hi, I bealive that there is also another one. when your subject is looking to somewehere in the the picture, you should give some space for him to look. sorry i cant explain it very well, but, for example in this St Francis should be al the right of the photo so he can have some space to look into.

Are you going to explain more about why that's a rule? You have to remember, I'm not good at these things :-P

Well, all my photos are on my flickr account, but that can get overwhelming, so if you want, you can just look through my favorites set over there. Once you pick out which one you want, just let me know, and what size you want it in, and I'll order it through mpix and have it shipped directly to you!
  • Yay! And: of course I want a print! And I'll hang it on my wall. And my family will say how awesome it is. And I'll say, "It's an iffles original." And they'll be jealous. :D

BTW- I don't think St. Francis cares that you cut him off at the knees.

Where can I pick my image from?
  • dammit... i was gonna say ''the rule of thirds'', and also make up something clever and witty about mixing your pinks in with your greens... :-D

Ha! I didn't even realize I cut him off at the knees. I was thinking of having the subject face into the frame - so Heather wins! If you want a print of one of my photos just say the word. If not, I won't be hurt, I'm not egotistical enough to think that everyone wants an iffles original :)
  • ummm...always have your subject facing into the frame? don't cut your subject off at the knees?

    lol. no clue.
